The road not taken. 가지 않은 길 (Robert Frost)

가(/택하)지 않은 길...에 대한 상념으로 보낸 오늘
로버트 프로스트의 싯구가 몹시 생각난 하루.

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;


Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.


I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

단풍 든 숲속 두 갈래 길
몸이 하나니 두 길을 다 가볼 수는 없고
서운한 마음으로 한참을 서서
잣나무 숲속으로 접어든 한길을
끝까지 바라보았다.

그러고는 다른 길을 택했다. 
아까 그 길처럼 아름답지만 더 좋아보였고
풀은 더 무성하여 나를 부르는 듯했다.
다른 사람이 밟은 흔적은 비슷했지만서리 내린 낙엽 위엔 발자국 하나 없었다.

그날 아침 
두 길은 똑같이 놓여 있었다.
아까 그 길은 언젠가 걸어보리라 생각했다.
인생길이라는 게 한번 가면 어떤지 알고 있으니
다시 가보기 어려우리라는 것을 알면서도.
세월이 흐른 후 나는 한숨 쉬며 말하겠지.
‘숲속에 두 갈래 길이 있었고 
나는 사람들이 덜 간 길을 택했으며
그것이 내 운명을 바꾸어 놓았노라고’
